At 185g the Beta is lighter than many long sleeve jerseys. In fact, it is so light you will likely not even notice it, but you will still have the protection promised by many jackets.The jacket achieves the triple crown of wind and rain protection, breathability, and low weight by using a combination of Castelli’s lightest and stretchiest fabrics, Polartec® Neoshell® and Nano Flex Light.Polartec® is used on the front and the upper of the sleeves to provide windproof and waterproof protection where you need it most. Nano Flex Light woven fabric is used on the back allowing any excess moisture and heat to escape whilst also shedding light rain.This thin wind and splash barrier provides a surprising amount of warmth while being so light and stretchy you'll hardly notice it. Race fit for performance on fast autumn and spring rides on any terrain.As summer turns to autumn you still have a few months of amazing riding, but when you have to start dressing warmer you miss the freedom of wearing just a jersey. That's why Castelli made this jacket. They used the lightest, stretchiest fabrics they have to make a jacket that cuts out most of the wind, remains highly breathable, provides remarkably high levels of water protection, and just basically disappears so you don't really notice it. This is a performance piece, so Castelli have kept it focused on the task at hand. There's nothing superfluous on it, unless you consider the big reflective panel on the back to be unnecessary. Castelli don't. Castelli have given it a close-to-body fit so there's no fabric flapping in the wind, which also helps keep the jacket warmer.
